The diving carer

A rare job in a zoo, the diving trainer is in charge of animals in tanks.

His dual skills mean he can dive to examine and clean the tanks. Every morning, he carries out an inspection tour to check that the animals are in good health and that the facilities are in good condition. Feeding the animals and cleaning their living quarters are also part of his daily tasks.

He is in charge of cleaning the windows so that you can see the animals swimming in the pools. Equipped with scuba diving gear, they are able to stay in the tanks between 8°C in winter for the penguins and 24°C all year round in the manatee tank.

These dives are carried out under the supervision of colleagues observing from the other side of the windows to ensure their safety. These dives are made in contact with the animals (manatees, arapaimas, penguins, etc.) except in the case of sea lions, where each dive is made in the absence of the animals.
