The common chameleon

The common chameleon, Chamaeleo chamaeleon, is the only chameleon species to be found in Europe.

In less than a second, the chameleon shoots out its long tongue towards its prey. Stunned by the shock and stuck to the mucus, the insect is trapped. The chameleon simply pulls its tongue back in and swallows it whole.
